That is an excellent question, thanks for asking!
I will be participating in a program designed for alumni World Racers. The program is called CGA which stands for The Center for Global Action, a program run by Adventures in Missions (AIM). It has three main components: Community, Apprenticeship, and Discipleship.
Community: I will live in a house with other people and a house mentor. The community consists not only of other CGA students that live in other houses around Gainesville, but also of the AIM staff as a whole. After getting back from the race I can only imagine it being like having a crazy, loud, extended family that just happens to all live in the same town; oh wait I have that! (Except at CGA, people will leave for various countries almost weekly). Having all of the awesomeness around me with the AIM community – including bonfires, worship nights to ultimate Frisbee tournaments and so many more things I can’t even imagine yet.
Apprenticeship: I will be enhancing my professional skills by serving elbow-to-elbow with AIM staff. I have chosen to focus on the mission track while serving in a department that is the best match between personal strengths and available positions at Adventures. While serving, I will be able to experience what kingdom living looks like in a work setting while developing skills and standards of excellence and integrity in the workplace.
Discipleship: Discipleship is at the core of what AIM has in mind for learning this fall term. At the CGA, they have re-imagined the traditional classroom setting and have created an interactive learning environment. Traditional lectures are augmented by small group discussions. Exams have been replaced by activities and experiments to practice tools and techniques. The courses I will be taking have been specifically designed to help further personal callings and figure out the details of moving forward with what God has stirred within me.
So what’s next??
Beginning in September I will move to Gainesville, GA and live there until mid December. During that time I will be able to work on two things that I wanted to continue learning after I came home from The World Race in the areas of Community and Discipleship. I will be mentored by others in the AIM organization who are older and wiser than I while furthering my knowledge in biblical concepts and theology and following a calling that God has put on my heart to reach outside of my comfort zone at this time. I have some BIG goals in mind but will have to wait till I get to Gainsville to know more.
So what’s next?
Please pray about partnering with me in my efforts to continue with Adventures In Missions.
One time gifts are AWESOME!
But, I’d truly love to have PARTNERS, you who will come beside me for long term, in prayer, in support, in however that looks.
Help fuel my kingdom dream that God has put in me to be a life changer and world changer that God has put on my heart at this time.
